Information on times and locations for sort yards, including wood availability, and other collections sites for Jefferson County is updated here.

Jefferson County is currently working on a regional biomass collection site , possibly in conjunction with a pellet plant operation. Secondary sites are also in the evaluation process.

 

Slash Drop-off Options for Mountain Residents

Remote slash collection schedules for mountain residents have been set for the 2009 season.  Citizens may use remote sites or the Rooney Road facility.  Below is a list of remote sites and open dates.   

Collection site will accept the following items:
Slash / limbs / tree debris / pine needles
Maximum length: 8 Feet
Maximum diameter: 6 Inches

Collection site will NOT accept the following items:
Household trash / tree stumps
Construction material
Refuse from commercial operations

Small Pickup - Bed High: $5

Trailer - Single Axle: $10
Trailer - Double Axle: $15

Anyone bringing non-permitted material will be turned away.
Please try to cover or secure your load during transport.
Rooney Road accepts cash and checks only.

Yard Waste

The Rooney Road Organic Recycling Center accepts tree branches, limbs and tree debris. Loose pine needles, leaves, grass clippings, hay and straw are also accepted. Tree limbs need to be cut-up 8 feet long or less and no larger than 12 inches in diameter. No stumps or trash of any kind.

Residential and Commercial organic yard wastes are accepted.
