Jefferson County is currently working on a regional biomass collection site , possibly in conjunction with a pellet plant operation. Secondary sites are also in the evaluation process.
Slash Drop-off Options for Mountain Residents
Remote slash collection schedules for mountain residents have been set for the 2009 season. Citizens may use remote sites or the Rooney Road facility. Below is a list of remote sites and open dates.

The Rooney Road Organic
Recycling Center accepts tree branches, limbs and tree debris. Loose pine
needles, leaves, grass clippings, hay and straw are also accepted. Tree limbs
need to be cut-up 8 feet long or less and no larger than 12 inches in diameter.
No stumps or trash of any kind.
Residential and Commercial organic yard wastes are accepted.
